Sworn translation of other official documents is an essential service to ensure that all types of documents (such as certificates, declarations, administrative documents, records, reports, letters or formal communications) are officially valid when they are to be submitted in another language.
At iDISC, these translations are performed exclusively by sworn translators-interpreters appointed by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (MAEC), which ensures the highest standards of accuracy and legal recognition.

What is considered an official document for sworn translation?

When do you need a sworn translation of other official documents?
The most common situations include:
- Immigration and visa procedures: translations of employment letters, certificates, reports or communications requested by foreign authorities.
- Academic processes: letters of recommendation, medical certificates, reports or accreditations required for admissions, scholarships or recognition of studies.
- Legal and administrative procedures: documents that must be submitted to courts, notaries, public registries or government entities, both in Spain and abroad.
- Employment or corporate processes: translation of formal letters, internal reports or business documentation required by international companies.
- Use in Spain of documents issued in another country: any official document written in another language must be accompanied by a sworn translation into Spanish to be accepted by administrations or private entities.
Apostille and legalization
The need for an apostille depends on the type of document and the destination country:
- Many documents in this category do not require an apostille.
- However, depending on the destination country, one of the following may be required:
- A Hague Apostille, if the country is a party to the Hague Convention.
- Consular legalization, if the country is not a party to the Convention.
The apostille is always affixed to the original document, not to the translation. If the document has an apostille, we can also provide a sworn translation of the apostille, if necessary.
